Ms. Malinda “Mo” Ota
2nd Degree Black Belt
Ms. “Mo” Ota has been studying the martial arts for over 15 years, training in American Kenpo. She began with and continues her training under Mr. Steve Cooper, earning her black belt in 2010 and a 2nd degree black belt in 2015. She has competed and placed in martial arts competitions for forms and self-defense and has received numerous martial arts awards including an induction to the Associate Master’s Hall of Fame in 2014.
Ms. Mo’s continued involvement in the martial arts is driven by her commitment to continued personal development of the art, teaching the art, and desire to provide a positive environment and be a role model for children and teens. This desire has expanded beyond teaching and she is now one of the few female open martial arts tournament promoters and hosts the yearly Orange County “OC” Open Martial Arts Tournament.
Aside from the martial arts, Ms. Ota holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and a Minor in English and works for a major aerospace and defense company as an internal auditor.
