Testimonials

As a person whom been here for about four years, this place is amazing. The instructors are great and not boring, have the perfect amount of strictness. They are able to keep class fun and still have ways to "control" kids. Not only do they teach martial arts amazingly, they also teach discipline and the history of Martial arts. And occasionally have parties and celebrations which is fun. They have a great way with kids and simple ways to explain moves and techniques for kids to understand. Instructors help encourage you and push you to be better and for the younger ones, have prizes and games. Not only are the instructors great, the friendly people and students also help each other. The kids that are higher ranked and more experienced helps the instructors with class and lower ranked students. Overall, this place is the best for learning martial arts and I love it.

I tried a few kick boxing and tae kwon do classes around Orange County, none of them really had what I was looking for.  I wanted to learn practical self defense.  A friend of mine recommended kenpo karate so i searched yelp for the best one around central Orange County.  I found this place and was hooked from the first free class.  I liked it a lot since he has an adult class at 8pm.

Mr. Cooper is awesome and will teach you traditional american kenpo.  You first practice techniques in the air and then actually on other students.  Cooper will also let you practice attacking and defending vs him, which is really cool because he'll hit you just hard enough to remember to keep your guard up.  He'll also let you attack him with some more force to see if you're attacking correctly.  I like the class a lot because he explains why you want to do things in a certain way and will always correct your form to ensure you're progressing.  I've learned a lot in my 6 months in the class and am always excited to return.  There is also sparring on Thursdays which works up quite the sweat.

I have taken karate classes before when I was young.  I wanted to get back into it as an adult with my friend. I shopped around and visited a few Karate studios trying out their classes. I tried a few throughout Orange County and I wasn't finding what I was looking for. All of the studios I tried were very lack luster and expensive for what you get.  Then after taking Mr. Cooper's free intro class, I knew I found what I was looking for!

This isn't a run of the mill karate studio.  You know the kind that upgrade your belt based the number of times you go to class? Or learning your moves as if it was a dance routine? That does not apply to this studio! You learn real karate here. You will learn the foundation and proper technique to actually defend yourself.  Kenpo is bit unique compared to the standard styles like Taekwondo. This style is much more practical and modified to handle real world situations in defending yourself from an attack in the most effective way possible. I thought I knew a little bit about karate from back then...turns out I didn't! It was eye opening and amazing to actually learn to do things right.

I really like the perks of the membership here.  The class availability is very open. I can go almost every day if my own schedule would allow it!  It was nice getting a free uniform & belt to get me started. It feels great to earn every belt you progress to. There are often tournaments you can participate in that tailor to all skill levels and ages. The best perk though, is learning from a real master black belt. You know you are in good hands here.
